Balance & Stretch: My Monthly Pilates Reset
Share
Okay so last month I shared my Sunday stretch set up with you all, and the response was so sweet — thank you! A few of you asked about balance specifically, so this month I wanted to talk about something that honestly snuck up on me in the best way.
My balance has improved so much since I started adding balance work into my routine. Like, noticeably. And it didn't happen from doing anything crazy — just small, consistent additions that I actually enjoy.
Start Grounded
Before anything else, I make sure I'm warmed up and on a stable surface. My ReStore' Pilates & Yoga Mat is my non-negotiable here — the grip is everything when you're working on single-leg movements. No mat sliding around, no distractions.
Add the Balance Board
This is the thing that changed everything for me. I started using the ReStore' Pilates Balance Board for just a few minutes a day and within a few weeks I could feel the difference — not just in my workouts but in how I move generally. Walking, standing, even just carrying groceries felt more stable. It sounds small but it adds up.
I usually do a few minutes of just standing on it, then progress to small squats or single-leg holds. Start slow, it's harder than it looks!
Stretch After, Always
Balance work really activates your stabilizer muscles — the small ones you don't always feel during regular workouts. So stretching after is so important. I go back to my Yoga Blocks Set of 2 for supported hip and hamstring stretches, and finish with the Foam Roller on my calves and ankles. Everything just releases.
Your May Reset
If April was about slowing down and stretching, think of May as building on that foundation. A little balance work, a little stretch, and you'll feel stronger and more grounded going into summer.
Try it this Sunday and let me know how it goes. 🧘
Take care 🤍 — ReStore'
